Object permanence is the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they can not be seen, heard, or touched.  Object permanence is a developmental concept in psychology and an important milestone in a baby's brain development.

In this revelation to the artist, she came to the understanding that even in natural development, there is the built-in concept of believing in the unseen.

 Much like a follower comes to the understanding that Jesus Christ and God exist even though they cannot hear, see, or touch them... a baby comes to understand that their parent still exists outside of their immediate presence.
